I see A LOT of "creative" ways to deadlift, and, parody aside (people in all the methods shown in the parody usually know how to deadlift properly, even if they don't do it often), and often I see people attempting a deadlift just plain doing it wrong. I also see a lot of people who deadlift wearing a weight belt or powerlifting belt thinking it will save them from poor form. (Side note: don't use a belt unless you already know what you are doing. It's there as a tool, not a crutch. If you don't know how to brace without a belt, it's not going to prevent a back injury.)
The hip hinge is an essential movement for mobility and strength, and learning how to do one properly will change your relationship with your butt muscles...in a good way!
